What is collaboration? How do you do it? And what to do when things go awry

There exists an implicit assumption that everyone knows what collaboration is, how to do it, and how to respond when things go awry. This workshop proposes Strategic Collaboration as an approach to solving shared problems.

We will explore the role of trust and relationship in fostering meaningful collaboration, examine the personal risks we must take to collaborate, the potential requirement to lay down one’s ego and ask for help, the role of humility, a love affair with questions, and the ability to truly listen to others.

Realistically, not everyone can collaborate. A lack of skill or understanding of engagement and accountability can halt a Strategic Collaboration process. We examine the people skills, analytical skills, and accountability skills essential for the kind of collaboration that results in truly effective solutions.

At the end of this workshop, you will leave with a basic road map which will enable you to design strategic collaborative structures and processes that ensure those with a stake in a problem are able to develop mutually-determined goals and solutions.
